User Experience (UX) Researcher / Designer

Design intuitive user interfaces for SolarWinds’ software.

 

The itty bitty UX team is looking for a new member. Ideally, you’ll have experience with usability and software UI design. But what’s most important is a great UX mind. If you know how to turn a complex, technical problem into an easy to use UI, we want to talk to you.

Responsibilities:

• Work with product management and user experience team  to identify key use cases that need testing.
• Create usability test plans.
• Schedule and administer informal usability tests using the RITE method.
• Quickly document and share usability findings with project teams – we need to have actionable results within hours, not days or weeks.
• Mock up solutions to usability issues.
• Perform heuristic evaluations on our released software.
• Turn high level product requirements into workflows and designs.
• Effectively share designs with developers, both here in Austin and offshore.
• Thoughtfully incorporate user, developer, and product manager feedback into design revisions.
• Drive designs to completion - get sign off on designs from user experience, development, and product management. Ensure designs get tested.
• Provide production art necessary to implement your designs.

Musts:

• Have experience administering usability tests.
• Have experience in software UX.
• Be an effective communicator, both verbally and in writing.

Pluses:

• Competitive analysis experience.
• Experience with Photoshop, Axure, Illustrator, Visio, Dreamweaver,  Omnigraffle.
• Strong digital portfolio of software UI work.
• Wireframing experience.
• Digital design skills.
• HTML/CSS knowledge.
• IT management background.
• Sense of humor!
